VinFast MPV 7 Cuts Ownership Costs

VinFast says its MPV 7 electric seven-seater could save Philippine buyers nearly ₱413,000 over three years compared with a conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle, based on calculations from the company’s online Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) tool.
The comparison projects savings of ₱412,981, or 22 percent, for motorists who travel an average of 1,000 kilometers monthly over a three-year ownership period.
Under those conditions, the MPV 7 with its battery included would cost an estimated ₱1,502,167 to own, compared with ₱1,915,148 for a conventional ICE vehicle.
The figures account for vehicle ownership expenses, including energy or fuel consumption, maintenance and financing. Actual savings may vary according to driving habits, operating expenses and financing arrangements.
VinFast introduced its web-based TCO calculator in August to help prospective buyers assess vehicle expenses beyond the initial purchase price.
The company is using the tool to demonstrate the potential financial advantages of electric vehicles in the competitive Philippine seven-seater market.
According to the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI), combined sales in the Asian utility vehicle and multipurpose vehicle segment reached 43,706 units from January to July 2026.
VinFast also has several ownership programs intended to reduce expenses.
Its battery subscription option allows customers to purchase an electric vehicle without the battery and pay a separate monthly subscription fee.
The company also provides free charging at participating V-Green stations until March 2029, alongside a Residual Value Guarantee program designed to protect eligible vehicles against depreciation.
The MPV 7 carries a seven-year vehicle warranty and a 10-year battery warranty.
Beyond ownership expenses, the seven-seater has a 60.13-kWh usable battery that delivers an estimated driving range of up to 450 kilometers under the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) standard.
According to VinFast, DC fast charging can replenish the battery from 10 to 70 percent in approximately 30 minutes.
The vehicle also provides flexible luggage capacity for families.
With all seven seats occupied, cargo space measures 126 liters. Folding the third row increases capacity to 606 liters, while folding the rear seats expands the available storage area to 1,240 liters.
Safety equipment includes four airbags, electronic stability control, traction control and four advanced driver assistance features.
ISOFIX child-seat anchors are fitted to the second row, while rear air-conditioning vents serve passengers in the second and third rows. Four USB ports are also provided.
VinFast’s cost comparison highlights how electricity expenses and ownership programs can affect long-term vehicle spending. However, the projected 22-percent savings remains an estimate based on the calculator’s selected assumptions rather than independently verified ownership costs.
