Geely unveils AI-powered EV charging technology with up to 2,250 kW of peak power

Geely Auto Group has introduced an artificial intelligence-powered charging system designed to shorten charging times while controlling battery temperatures and reducing wear from repeated fast charging.

Unveiled globally on September 23, 2026, Geely Smart Charging uses Xingrui PowerMind, an AI energy model developed jointly with technology company StepFun.

The system coordinates the vehicle, battery, charging station, cloud, power grid and energy storage equipment to manage the charging process.

One of its main features is the ability to predict battery temperatures up to 30 seconds in advance. This allows the system to adjust charging power before temperatures rise excessively.

According to Geely, the technology is designed to keep average battery charging temperatures below 55 degrees Celsius and peak temperatures below 65 degrees Celsius.

A five-point liquid-cooling system also controls heat across the charging process, covering the station’s energy storage battery, charging unit, cable, charging port and vehicle battery pack.

The technology is particularly relevant to markets such as the Philippines, where high temperatures throughout much of the year place additional demands on EV battery cooling systems.

Geely has also developed Lithium-ion Pulse Restoration Technology to address battery deterioration associated with repeated fast charging.

The technology uses micro-pulse currents to reactivate lithium ions that can accumulate at the negative electrode. Combined with AI charging management, Geely claims it can improve battery cycle life by up to 20 percent.

Charging power, cooling intensity and duration can also be adjusted according to the condition of individual batteries.

For home charging, Geely has developed a lower-rate charging strategy intended to reduce battery degradation over time.

The company has introduced its fifth-generation Smart Charging Station, capable of delivering peak charging power of up to 2,250 kilowatts.

Its Shendun Golden Battery supports charging rates of up to 12C, theoretically allowing a full charge in approximately five minutes.

Geely reported that batteries used in the Lynk & Co 10 and Zeekr 001 achieved a charge from 10 to 70 percent in four minutes and 30 seconds during testing.

Charging from 10 to 97 percent took eight minutes and 40 seconds.

The company describes these results as its fastest production-ready charging performance to date.

Another development is Geely’s Next-Generation Ultra Short Blade Battery, which uses proprietary laser-welding technology to reduce heat generation during charging by 10 percent. The battery also supports peak charging rates of up to 6C.

The developments come as Geely expands its electrified vehicle lineup in the Philippines.

Its local range includes the Geely EX2 and EX5 electric vehicles, along with the EX5 EM-i, which uses the company’s EM-i Super Hybrid technology.

However, Geely clarified that the latest charging system is part of its global technology roadmap and does not mean its current Philippine-market vehicles support the full 2,250-kW charging capability.

The company has not announced when the new charging technology will become available locally.

Geely’s latest development combines charging performance with battery protection as the company works on future electric vehicles and charging infrastructure.
