Green SM expands electric taxi service to Palembang

Green SM has launched its all-electric taxi service in Palembang, extending its Indonesian network to a second city in Sumatra after Bandar Lampung.
The expansion gives residents of the South Sumatra capital access to Green SM’s zero-emission fleet as the company widens its presence across Indonesia. Green SM already operates in Jakarta, Makassar, Surabaya, Bali and Bandar Lampung.

The company also introduced its “Green Your Move, Refresh Your City” campaign in Palembang in support of initiatives under Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control Agency focused on ecosystem and air protection.
The campaign encourages residents to use more environmentally friendly transportation as part of efforts to improve urban air quality.
Green SM operates a fully electric fleet and pairs its vehicles with professional drivers, transparent fares and standardized service. The company said the Palembang launch is part of its broader plan to make electric mobility more accessible across Indonesia.
Palembang is one of Sumatra’s major trade and service centers, with a population of more than 1.8 million. Green SM sees the city’s economic growth, increasing transport demand and smart-city programs as supportive of wider electric mobility adoption.

Green SM Global CEO Pham Nhat Minh Hoang said the company expects its electric taxi service to become part of residents’ daily travel while contributing to cleaner air.
“I am delighted that Green SM has another opportunity to bring the positive values of green mobility to even more people across Indonesia,” Hoang said.
Green SM accompanied the September 12 launch with a series of introductory fare discounts. The promotions ran through October 2, starting with fares discounted by 100 percent up to Rp50,000, followed by 50-percent and 35-percent discounts during succeeding periods.
Beyond its taxi operations, Green SM said its expansion supports employment, local talent development and partnerships with local stakeholders as it builds its electric mobility network.
The company said its global operations have completed about 850 million trips covering nearly six billion kilometers. Green SM estimates these journeys have helped avoid more than 800,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, which it said is comparable to the carbon absorption capacity of about 36 million trees.
