BYD Sales Nearly Double
BYD Cars Philippines sold 28,399 vehicles from January to August 2026, surpassing its full-year 2025 total four months before the end of the year.
The eight-month figure was 99 percent higher than the same period last year. BYD sold 26,122 vehicles throughout 2025.
Sales reached 4,682 units in August. The result followed a record April, when the company delivered 5,730 vehicles, its highest monthly total in the Philippines. April sales rose 258 percent from the same month in 2025.
Plug-in hybrids accounted for most of BYD’s volume during the first eight months of 2026. The company sold 22,555 vehicles powered by its DM-i plug-in hybrid system, up 95 percent from 11,542 units a year earlier.
The Sealion 6 DM-i was BYD’s best-selling model with 7,759 units delivered. It accounted for 27 percent of the company’s total sales during the period.
The eMAX 9 DM-i added 2,512 units to the plug-in hybrid tally.
BYD also recorded faster growth across its battery-electric range. Sales of fully electric vehicles reached 5,844 units, an increase of 115 percent from 2,720 vehicles in the first eight months of 2025.
The eMAX 7 led the company’s battery-electric lineup with 1,975 units. The electric MPV represented 34 percent of BYD’s fully electric vehicle sales during the period.
Bob Palanca, managing director of BYD Cars Philippines, said the company’s performance and the demand for its leading models showed that electrified vehicles were gaining wider acceptance among Filipino buyers.
He cited practicality, reliability and lower ownership costs as factors behind the growth. Palanca said BYD would continue to introduce electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles to the local market.
The company has also expanded its Philippine dealer network to 81 locations, extending its sales and after-sales coverage across Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao.
Globally, BYD reported sales of 440,293 new energy vehicles in August 2026.
