BAIC Widens Warranty Coverage

BAIC Philippines has introduced a broader ownership package that covers its vehicles for up to five years and provides three years of roadside assistance at no extra cost.

The coverage was announced during the fifth leg of UAAGI On the Move at the Fashion Hall Atrium of SM Megamall, where BAIC also displayed its expanding range of electrified sport utility vehicles.

Every BAIC vehicle sold in the Philippines now carries a general warranty lasting five years or 150,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. It covers core components against manufacturing defects.

Models equipped with high-voltage batteries receive separate coverage of eight years or 160,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. The warranty applies to BAIC’s new-energy lineup, which includes hybrid and range-extended electric vehicles.

BAIC said the battery coverage addresses concerns about long-term ownership costs among buyers considering electrified vehicles.

The package also includes three years of roadside assistance from the date of purchase. Available services cover flat tires, battery-related concerns and towing.

Support will be handled through BAIC’s growing aftersales operation under UAAGI Auto Group. The company said UAAGI’s broader nationwide network now covers more than 131 dealerships, with access to trained technicians, genuine parts and service facilities.

The roadshow also highlights the B30e Dune hybrid, B40e Trailmaster range-extended electric vehicle and B60e Beaumont rEV.

Range-extended electric vehicles use a gasoline engine as a generator. The electric motor drives the vehicle, while the battery serves as its primary power source. A conventional hybrid can use its gasoline engine and electric motor to drive the wheels.

The five-seat B30e Dune produces up to 409 PS and 685 Newton-meters of torque. Its equipment includes intelligent all-wheel drive, seven drive modes and 215 millimeters of ground clearance.

It also comes with a panoramic sunroof and a 14.6-inch infotainment display. Its driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control, lane assistance and a 360-degree camera.

Prices start at P1.488 million for the B30e Dune 4×2 and P1.798 million for the 4×4 variant.

The B40e Trailmaster rEV starts at P2.838 million. BAIC said the model holds the top global sales position in its segment based on recent data from automotive research company MarkLines.

Its larger B60e Beaumont rEV is positioned as a premium electrified SUV with a starting price of P3.498 million and output equivalent to about 550 horsepower.

“We think the B60e belongs in that conversation. It has the size and the presence, 550 horsepower, and it’s electrified, so it doesn’t cost what a vehicle this size usually costs to run,” BAIC brand head Timothy Sytin said.

Sytin added that the B60e combines newer technology with a quieter cabin and improved passenger comfort.
