Kia adds EV3 and PV5 to local lineup

Kia Philippines marked World EV Day by outlining the next stage of its electric vehicle rollout, with the EV3 compact SUV and PV5 commercial van set to join the EV5 and EV9 in the local market.

The company, which operates under ACMobility, will launch the EV3 this September. The cargo version of the PV5 will follow in October.

Kia Philippines managing director Jay Lopez said the wider selection is designed to bring electric mobility to more drivers, families and businesses.

“Our growing EV lineup, which includes the EV5 and EV9 as well as the upcoming EV3 and PV5, provides drivers with purpose-built electric technology and versatile space designed for their daily lives,” Lopez said.

The EV5 serves as the more practical choice for daily travel and weekend use. Its cabin has two 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 3.6-kilowatt Vehicle-to-Load system that can supply power to compatible appliances and electronic equipment.

An 88.1-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate battery powers a front-mounted motor that produces 217 PS and 310 Newton-meters of torque. Kia claims a range of up to 550 kilometers on a full charge.

The EV5 also carries the Kia DriveWise suite of driver-assistance systems and a 360-degree Surround View Monitor.

At the larger end of the range, the EV9 is Kia’s three-row electric SUV. Its second-row Relaxation Seats offer power adjustment, ventilation and massage functions.

The all-wheel-drive EV9 uses two motors that deliver 384 PS and 700 Nm. It can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.3 seconds.

Its 99.8-kWh battery provides a claimed range of up to 505 kilometers. The vehicle’s 800-volt electrical architecture supports DC fast charging at up to 350 kW, which can take the battery from 10 to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes under suitable conditions.

The EV9 won the World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle of the Year titles at the 2024 World Car Awards.

Kia’s next local launch, the EV3, brings the brand’s electric technology to the compact SUV segment. The model was named 2025 World Car of the Year and is aimed partly at buyers considering their first EV.

The PV5 will broaden the range into commercial transport. Built on a modular electric platform, the van is intended for cargo operations, fleet use and other business requirements.

Kia’s electric vehicles are supported by ACMobility’s charging network, which now covers more than 200 locations nationwide. The network extends from Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte to General Santos City.
