Nissan Armada Levels Up With NISMO and Luxe Choices

Published

on

Nissan is taking its biggest SUV into new territory with the arrival of the 2026 Armada, now offered in six grades including the first-ever Armada NISMO.

A Nissan for Every Adventure

Buyers can choose between the versatile SV, well-equipped SL, premium Platinum, rugged PRO-4X, sporty NISMO, and top-trim Platinum Reserve. Each one carries a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 paired with a 9-speed automatic and towing capacity up to 8,500 pounds. Standard output is 425 horsepower and 516 lb-ft torque, but the NISMO squeezes out 460 hp when fed premium fuel.

NISMO Muscle

The Armada NISMO is the most powerful Armada ever. Engineers retuned the steering, suspension, and exhaust for sharper response and a more aggressive sound inside and out. It rolls on 22-inch forged alloys wrapped in performance tires, while unique fascia, fender flares, and rear spoiler give it a bolder stance. Inside, quilted leather with red accents, sport seat bolsters, aluminum pedals, and ambient lighting complete the makeover.

Off-Road Grit

Meanwhile, the PRO-4X caters to trail seekers with all-terrain tires, skid plates, locking differential, and 8 selectable drive modes. It also gains an option for second-row captain’s chairs this year.

Luxury Flagship

For those who’d rather glide in comfort, the Platinum Reserve offers massaging front seats, heated second row, and Nissan’s Biometric Cooling system. Quilted leather, a stitched steering wheel, and ambient lighting elevate the cabin.

Tech for Road and Trail

Across the lineup, Nissan loaded in modern features like dual 14.3-inch Google-integrated displays, an available Klipsch 12-speaker audio setup, ProPILOT Assist 2.1 for hands-off freeway driving, and driver aids such as Invisible Hood View and 3D Around View Monitor. Safety Shield 360 comes standard.

Pricing

In the U.S., prices start at $58,840 (₱3.35 million) for the SV 4×2 and top out at $80,550 (₱4.59 million) for the Platinum Reserve 4×4. The NISMO slots just below the flagship at $79,530 (₱4.54 million), while the off-road PRO-4X is priced at $74,300 (₱4.23 million). Add $2,190 (₱125,000) in destination fees.

Nissan Armada in PH?

So far, Nissan has made no official statement on whether the 2026 Armada—or its NISMO version—will ever be launched in the Philippines. Import costs, taxes, and logistics could easily push the ₱4M-plus U.S. pricing much higher here. But since the Philippines has zero import tariff on U.S.-made vehicles, does that make it more realistic for Nissan to bring in the Armada NISMO? Or do you think local buyers would still stick with the Patrol, Land Cruiser, or Expedition?

Mitsubishi Expands with Marikina Service Hub

Published

on

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has strengthened its support network in Metro Manila by opening a new service center in Marikina City.

The facility, run by long-time partner Diamond Motor Corporation (DMC), sits on a 6,500-square-meter lot at Mt. Everest Street corner G. Fernando Avenue in New Marikina Subdivision, Santa Elena. Its location was chosen to serve not only Marikina residents but also motorists from neighboring Pasig, Cainta, Antipolo, San Mateo, and Quezon City.

The branch is classified as a 2S dealership, focusing solely on after-sales service and spare parts. Inside its 2,878-square-meter building are 16 service bays capable of handling everything from routine check-ups and preventive maintenance to major body repairs. Customers are also provided with a lounge and dedicated parking spaces to make their visits more convenient.

For DMC, which has been in the automotive industry for over 50 years, this is its first 2S-only dealership. It complements its main Mitsubishi outlet on Marcos Highway in nearby Cainta.

“This expansion reflects our continued effort to bring services closer to our customers,” said George Blaylock, DMC’s Dealer Principal. He emphasized the group’s goal of carrying on its tradition of innovation and reliability.

MMPC added that the Marikina branch underscores its push to expand its dealer network and ensure reliable after-sales support for its growing customer base across the metro.

First teased at the Manila International Auto Show earlier this year, the 08 EM-P is now formally listed in the Department of Energy’s plug-in hybrid database. The SUV is designed for Filipino drivers who want both modern performance and everyday practicality.

Pasay’s Free Ride is Back—Now Smarter

A white and pink Toyota Lite Ace community shuttle in Pasay City with a poster advertising “Libreng Sakay” (Free Ride) from Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., featuring Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano and the list of shuttle zones and stops.

Pasay City is bringing back free shuttle rides, and this time, the service gets a tech boost. Starting August 12, 2025, residents can hop on Toyota Lite Ace community shuttles for another year at no cost, with routes and seats managed through Toyota’s mobility apps. The move aims to cut commute stress, make trips more predictable, and move Pasay closer to its “smart city” goals.

Instead of the usual “ride wherever there’s a vacant seat,” passengers can plan trips and reserve seats via the myTOYOTA Shuttle PH app, while city administrators get real-time vehicle data and driver behavior insights through Toyota Fleet Connected Service. It’s a small fleet of five Toyota Lite Ace units donated in March 2025, but a big step toward cleaner, safer, and more efficient city mobility. Think barangay-to-City Hall errands, school runs, or quick hospital trips made smoother with digital tools.

Free rides cushion households from rising transportation costs, and app-based booking reduces “come what may” commutes. If the system works in Pasay, other local governments could copy the model, especially for first- and last-mile routes where jeepneys or buses aren’t practical. It’s also a test of public trust: will commuters actually use the app? Can the city keep the shuttles on schedule and the data secure?

The program builds on the Toyota Community Shuttle pilot that ran from December 2023 to January 2025, which proved that connected, shared transport can improve access without needing major new infrastructure. The relaunch, led by Pasay City officials with Toyota executives, signals tighter public–private teamwork to modernize mobility at the city level.
