VinFast Takes ASEAN Duty

VinFast will deploy 11 units of its VF MPV 7 electric seven-seater as the official transport fleet for delegates from ASEAN’s Dialogue Partners attending the 44th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM44) and its associated meetings from October 5 to 8, 2026.

The Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer has been named the official mobility partner of this year’s meeting, where energy ministers and senior officials from ASEAN member states will gather with representatives of partner countries and international organizations.

The annual meeting serves as ASEAN’s principal ministerial platform for energy cooperation, with discussions covering regional energy security, renewable energy development and the transition to cleaner energy sources.

Participants will also discuss investment in energy infrastructure, emerging technologies and closer integration of energy systems across Southeast Asia.

VinFast’s participation will place its locally available electric MPV in official transport service during the four-day gathering.

Introduced in the Philippines in May 2026, the VF MPV 7 is designed for families seeking a spacious electric vehicle with three rows of seating.

The model has a 60.13-kWh battery that provides a claimed driving range of up to 450 kilometers on a full charge under the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) standard.

Its electric motor produces 150 kilowatts of power and 280 Newton-meters of torque. The cabin can accommodate seven occupants, while cargo capacity reaches up to 1,240 liters.

The deployment also gives VinFast an opportunity to demonstrate the use of battery-powered vehicles for official transport at an international gathering.

The company will also participate in discussions associated with the ASEAN Energy Business Forum, which gathers stakeholders involved in clean energy development and regional energy cooperation.

VinFast said its involvement supports broader efforts to encourage electric vehicle adoption as Southeast Asian countries seek to reduce their dependence on conventional fuels.

The manufacturer has been expanding its operations across the region, including the Philippines, where it has introduced electric passenger vehicles and developed partnerships to support charging infrastructure and aftersales services.

VinFast is a subsidiary of Vietnam’s Vingroup and produces electric SUVs, scooters and buses. Its expansion strategy includes increasing its distribution network and manufacturing capacity in international markets.
