Toyota sets double-points showdown for TGR Philippine Cup season finals

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) will wrap up the 2026 TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippine Cup with double points at stake in the final race weekend on October 22 to 24 at Clark International Speedway in Mabalacat, Pampanga.
The season-ending event will feature sprint and endurance races, with drivers competing for championship honors across three classes. Admission is free.
Red Diwa leads the Super Sporting Class standings after Race Weekend 3, while Bern Zaragoza heads the Sporting Class. Iñigo Anton holds the top spot in the Tamaraw Class.
With twice the usual points available, the final round could change the championship standings and determine the season’s winners.
TMP will also announce plans for the 2027 season, including a new addition to the racing series. The company has yet to disclose details.
“We hope the developments we are planning for the 2027 season will attract new motorsports fans,” said TMP First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations Elijah Marcial.
She said the company continues to look for ways to make motorsports more accessible to Filipino fans.
Apart from the races, spectators can try remote-controlled cars on a dedicated track and experience simulator racing. Sponsors will also display automotive products, while official GAZOO Racing merchandise will be available at the venue.
The final weekend will also conclude Toyota’s alternative-fuel testing program, which began during Race Weekend 2 in July.
The initiative uses the Philippine Cup as a testing ground for lower-carbon fuels under actual racing conditions.
Toyota has been testing E20 gasoline, which contains 20 percent bioethanol, in its Vios race cars. The Tamaraw entries use B5 fuel, a blend containing five percent coco-biodiesel.
The company said the tests support efforts to explore alternative fuels, improve energy security and reduce transport emissions while creating opportunities for the country’s agricultural sector.
TMP will consolidate the findings from the racing program and share them with relevant stakeholders for possible future applications.
The TGR Philippine Cup is supported by official partners GT Radial, Petron RevX, Petron Blaze Racing, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Academy and DENSO, along with other industry sponsors.
Fans unable to attend the event can watch the final race weekend through the official TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippines Facebook page.
