Toyota Gives Hilux Remote Access
Toyota Motor Philippines has introduced its next-generation myToyota Connect system for eligible all-new Hilux models, allowing owners to control selected vehicle functions, monitor security and access assistance through their smartphones.
The updated connected services platform, which includes Toyota Remote, allows drivers to switch the air-conditioning on or off before entering their pickup. Owners can cool the cabin in advance, particularly after leaving the vehicle parked outdoors.
The system also provides remote access to vehicle information, including the status of doors, windows and lights. Owners can check whether their pickup is properly secured and remotely lock or unlock the doors without returning to the vehicle.
A GPS-based Find My Car function helps locate the pickup in parking areas. Drivers can also activate the horn or hazard lights through the app to identify their vehicle when nearby.
Additional security features include geofence alerts that notify owners when their vehicle travels outside a designated area and anti-theft notifications for suspected unauthorized entry.
In cases of suspected theft, Toyota offers assistance with vehicle tracking and remote immobilization, subject to service conditions. The immobilization function requires support assistance and cannot be used through the app to stop a moving vehicle.
Next-gen myToyota Connect also incorporates e-Care, which provides vehicle health warnings and access to 24-hour customer assistance and roadside support.
A charging and fuel station map helps drivers locate suitable stops, depending on vehicle compatibility.
Toyota is also preparing to introduce Connected Toyota Insure (CTI), a usage-based insurance program that considers driving behavior and mileage when determining potential renewal savings.
The system monitors harsh braking, acceleration and cornering to calculate a personalized Driving Score.
Through participating Toyota Insure partners, qualified customers may receive savings of up to 25 percent on the driving-related perils portion of their insurance premium after an eight-month monitoring period. The maximum discount is not guaranteed and remains subject to policy conditions.
Basic myToyota Connect services are also available on other eligible Toyota vehicles, including selected Corolla Altis, Corolla Cross, Camry, Zenix, Fortuner, RAV4, Land Cruiser and earlier Hilux models.
Depending on the model, these services include Find My Car, geofence notifications and Trip Recorder. They are separate from the advanced Toyota Remote functions offered on eligible all-new Hilux models.
“We want our customers to feel supported long after they drive home their Toyota,” said Elijah Sue Marcial, Toyota Motor Philippines first vice president for vehicle operations.
“Next-Gen mTC featuring Toyota Remote helps eligible All-New Hilux owners prepare for a drive, check on their vehicle, and access assistance through their phone.”
Owners can access the services by downloading the myToyota App and Toyota Remote App through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Toyota advises customers to consult their dealerships to confirm vehicle eligibility, activation requirements and applicable subscription terms.
