Jaguar TCS Racing Extends TCS Deal, Adds AI Role for Formula E GEN4

Tata Consultancy Services has extended its title partnership with Jaguar TCS Racing under a multi-year agreement that also makes the technology company the team’s official artificial intelligence partner as Formula E enters the GEN4 era.

The renewed deal expands a five-year collaboration between TCS and Jaguar TCS Racing, with AI set to play a bigger role in race operations, engineering and the development of future Jaguar electric vehicles.

Jaguar TCS Racing heads into GEN4 as the reigning ABB FIA Formula E Teams’ World Champion after closing the 2025/26 season with four victories and 10 podium finishes.

The team also won the Teams’ World Championship in 2024, giving it two titles in three seasons. Jaguar TCS Racing recorded more wins and podium finishes than any other team during the GEN3 Evo period.

Under the expanded partnership, TCS and Jaguar TCS Racing will explore the use of AI to improve efficiency and generate data that can support both racing decisions and next-generation road cars.

TCS has already worked with the team on cloud computing, digital twins and its Virtual Vehicle Validation Model, or V3M. The system allows engineers to validate software changes and run continuous simulations during tight race-weekend schedules.

TCS global chief marketing officer Abhinav Kumar said the companies plan to build on their recent championship success by using AI and other technologies to find new performance opportunities.

Chris Thorp, chairman of JLR Motorsport, said data and AI would become increasingly important as Formula E moves into its next technical era and as knowledge gained from racing feeds into future Jaguar vehicles.

Jaguar returned to racing in 2016 and has since collected more than 20 Formula E victories and over 60 podium finishes. It won both the Teams’ World Championship and Manufacturer’s Trophy in 2024 before taking another teams’ title in 2026.

Its GEN3 Evo car, the Jaguar I-TYPE 7, secured 10 victories across Seasons 11 and 12.

Jaguar has committed to Formula E’s GEN4 era, which begins with Season 13 and runs through Season 16. The manufacturer will develop its own powertrain, including the motor generator unit, transmission, inverter and rear suspension.

Jaguar will also supply GEN4 powertrains to Paysafe Envision Formula E Team and Fortescue Zero Racing.

Formula E remains a development platform for JLR’s electric vehicle technology, with lessons from competition intended to support more efficient and lighter electric powertrains for future road cars.
