Shocking Entry

Dongfeng Motors PH introduces E70 Pro EV sedan, aims to disrupt ride-hailing sector
Dongfeng Motors Philippines has officially launched the E70 Pro, its first fully electric sedan, marking its entry into the EV game with a strong focus on public and ride-hailing transport.

The E70 Pro was unveiled on July 15 at Dongfeng Motors Ortigas, with executives from Legado Motors Inc.—Dongfeng’s local distributor—leading the event. Present were President and CEO Wilbert Lim, Deputy CEO Brennan Lim, CFO Regina Singson Lim, and VP for Sales and Operations Giovanni Frias. Also in attendance were TaxiKo General Manager Nigel Singson Lim and other key stakeholders.

In his speech, Brennan Lim said the E70 Pro is more than just a new car—it represents a shift toward smarter, greener transportation. “We are opening the doors to a smarter, greener, and more sustainable way of moving forward,” he said.

The E70 Pro boasts a 420-kilometer range on a single charge and has already gained recognition abroad as a trusted electric taxi in China and South America. With its spacious cabin, smooth ride, and tested safety features—including passing fire, immersion, and heat dissipation tests—it’s designed to meet the daily demands of drivers and fleet operators.

For those concerned about cost, the E70 Pro offers a compelling case. Dongfeng claims a driver can save up to ₱47 per 6–7 km of driving—equating to over ₱780,000 in fuel savings over 100,000 km. Maintenance costs are also low, with only ₱35,000 estimated over five years. Priced at ₱1,198,000, the E70 Pro aims to make EV ownership more affordable.

A key highlight at the launch was the introduction of TaxiKo EV—a ride-hailing platform based on the E70 Pro. Its sleek design, silent motor, and roomy interior drew attention from transport operators and potential fleet buyers.

The strong response was immediate. Sixty-five reservations were made during the event, with some units delivered the same day—an early sign that the E70 Pro could become a top choice in the local ride-hailing scene.

Dongfeng’s move reflects the growing shift toward electric mobility in the country, with the E70 Pro potentially leading the charge in both private and public transport sectors.

Fuel Stops Turn into Road Trip Quests

What started as a simple refueling activity has turned into a full-blown travel quest for thousands of motorists in Luzon, thanks to Unioil’s Fueled for Life Challenge.
The promo encourages riders and drivers to visit all 30 participating Unioil stations across Luzon for the chance to win big prizes—most notably, free fuel for life. Recently, the first grand prize winners in both the motorcycle and car categories were confirmed. But the game isn’t over. The next 30 finishers in each category to complete all stations before October 15, 2025, will each get free fuel for an entire year.

Winners describe the challenge as more than just a contest. For 4-wheeler champion Jed Listanco, every drive—from daily commutes to weekend getaways—became part of a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. For 2-wheeler winner Solomon De Las Llagas, it was a reason to explore new places with his wife, turning fuel stops into shared experiences.

The mechanics are straightforward but competitive. Every qualifying purchase—at least ₱200 for motorcycles or ₱1,200 for cars—earns a stamp on the participant’s challenge passport. At each stop, challengers must also scan a QR code and take a photo with the official station signage as proof of visit.
The mix of old-school passport stamping and digital tracking keeps the race exciting. Each Unioil branch visited becomes a milestone, from urban centers to rural highways, showcasing the company’s wide network across Luzon and inspiring participants to discover new routes.
With the deadline just two months away, more motorists are joining the rush, blending their passion for driving with the practical reward of free fuel. For those ready to take the plunge, the next refuel could mark the start of their own Luzon-wide journey.

Suzuki Sends Boats and Big Discounts for Flood-Hit Communities

Suzuki Philippines has stepped in to help communities hit hard by recent floods caused by Typhoons Dante and Emong, especially in low-lying areas of Laguna. Many neighborhoods near the company’s head office in Calamba were left underwater and cut off from essential supplies.

Through its Marine Department, Suzuki worked with local governments and rescue teams to deliver help where it was needed most. The company deployed an inflatable boat with a 6HP Suzuki outboard motor to Biñan and a poly boat with a 15HP motor to Sta. Rosa. These boats made it possible to reach areas inaccessible to regular vehicles or manual boats, bringing much-needed relief goods to stranded families, particularly in Sikatville where waters reached chest level.

Local leaders and volunteers praised the effort, saying the equipment helped them cover more ground and reach people faster.
Suzuki also launched a Flood Support Program for owners of non-insured Suzuki vehicles damaged by the floods. The program offers a 30% discount on key parts often affected by floodwater—Engine Control Module (ECM), ABS Control Module, Body Control Module (BCM), and SRS Control Unit—helping customers repair their vehicles safely and affordably.

The company said these efforts reflect its belief that mobility is more than transportation—it’s a way to care, connect, and uplift people, especially during disasters.
