JAECOO 5 Goes Camping

The JAECOO 5 BEV combines a claimed 402-kilometer driving range with features designed for camping, including an external power outlet and a washable front storage compartment.

JAECOO says the electric SUV’s 60.9-kWh battery can charge from 30 to 80 percent in 28 minutes. The release does not specify the charging power or test standard used for its range figure.

A 3.3-kW vehicle-to-load function can supply electricity to equipment outside the car. The SUV also has a one-button camping mode that adjusts its power supply and vehicle settings for outdoor use.

Inside, a 50-watt wireless phone charger provides another way to keep devices powered. An Eco mode adjusts energy use for different driving conditions, according to JAECOO.

The SUV has 174 millimeters of ground clearance and a stated wading depth of 450 millimeters. Its cargo area holds 480 liters, while a 35-liter washable front compartment offers space for items such as drinks or pet supplies. JAECOO also lists 38 storage spaces throughout the vehicle.

Other features include a 1.45-square-meter panoramic sunroof and double-layer acoustic glass for the front row. JAECOO says the glass and wind-noise measures help keep the cabin quiet at highway speeds.

JAECOO cautions that specifications and feature availability may vary by market. The release does not give Philippine pricing or a local availability date.
