iCAUR V23 Drifts Into Spotlight

The iCAUR V23 trades rugged trails for controlled slides in “Wuhu Drift,” a new film that places the boxy electric SUV alongside the Nissan GT-R R34 and Honda S2000.

The film features Cody Walker, brother of the late actor Paul Walker, and pays tribute to the car culture made popular by The Fast and the Furious franchise.

At the center of the action is the V23, which drifts through confined urban spaces, joins high-speed pursuit scenes and descends several flights of stairs.

iCAUR said the driving sequences were performed without visual effects. The V23 used in the stunts retained its factory powertrain, chassis architecture and original body structure.

The unusual choice of vehicle gives the film its main hook. Drifting is usually associated with low sports cars built around a low center of gravity and a firm suspension.

Boxy off-road SUVs are typically designed for ground clearance, durability and versatility. The V23 enters that setting with a taller body and the instant power delivery of an electric drivetrain.

Its appearance in the film was heavily modified with an oversized carbon-fiber rear wing, roof-mounted auxiliary lights, side aerodynamic pieces and a wide-body treatment. A geometric racing livery and white multi-spoke wheels complete the look.

While the modifications change the vehicle’s appearance, iCAUR said they also demonstrate how the V23 can accommodate aftermarket parts without permanent changes to its original structure.

The front bumper, fender flares and roof-rack system can accept replacement components and accessories. Owners can therefore change the vehicle’s look or equipment according to how they intend to use it.

More than 20 mounting points are located around the roof, dashboard, D-pillars and chassis. These can accommodate roof racks, side ladders, crossbars, console mounts and cargo equipment.

The roof rack can support a static load of up to 200 kilograms, according to iCAUR. This allows it to carry equipment such as a roof tent, bicycle rack or side awning.

Its removable fender flares also give owners more freedom to change the tire configuration. Mounting points near the D-pillars can carry additional equipment for camping or overlanding.

The V23 forms part of a broader technology ecosystem that includes AIMOGA, an intelligent mobility platform developed to improve interaction between users, vehicles and their surroundings.

iCAUR has yet to detail how all of AIMOGA’s functions will be applied to the V23. The company said the technology is being developed to make vehicle interaction more intuitive and connected.

“Wuhu Drift” places the V23 at the meeting point between electric mobility and modified-car culture. It also gives iCAUR a way to present the SUV’s mechanical ability and customization features outside the usual off-road setting.
