Jacob Ang Drives BMW Philippines Forward

BMW Philippines is welcoming a new leader as Jacob Ang takes the president’s seat at SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp. (SMCACD), the brand’s official distributor in the country. His appointment became effective on September 1, 2025.

Jacob, son of San Miguel Corp. chairman Ramon Ang, succeeds Spencer Yu, who held the top role for seven years. Yu is credited with helping strengthen BMW’s foothold in the local luxury car market during a time of steady growth.

The transition comes as demand for premium vehicles in the Philippines continues to climb, with electrified mobility gaining stronger traction. Jacob has been actively involved in modernizing BMW’s local operations, giving him a head start in pushing new strategies.

“This is an exciting time for our industry and for BMW in the Philippines,” Jacob said. “My priority is to build on what we do best—drive innovation in how we serve our customers, and strengthen BMW’s position as the leader in premium mobility in the country.”

Ramon Ang expressed full confidence in his son’s leadership, noting that the groundwork has already been laid for the brand’s expansion. “With Jacob’s energy and vision, I am confident he will take the brand further and create even more value for our customers,” he said.

As BMW accelerates toward electrification and innovation, Jacob Ang now has the keys to steer its future in one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing premium car markets.
